Thoughts on Friday

The work is done the weekend is here. With this being my first Mothers Day, I’m planning on celebrating all weekend. Why not? Maybe see what is playing at the Film Center on Saturday night or drink a glass (or two) of one of my favorite wines. Then on Sunday morning, head over to the San Rafael Farmers Market and pick up some fresh goods for a picnic in Bolinas with the boys. We’ll see. Sounds a bit ambitious. I’ll bring my camera just in case….

I picture my day at the beach being like a Lartigue photograph (below). Peaceful and contemplative.

“When you foucus a lens-it’s blured just in front and just behind. Its very pretty just a little in front and just a little behind. It’s too sharp when it’s exactly focused. Beauty is killed by precision”
(Jacques Henri Lartigue-Diary, 21 June 1926)

All Morning in The Kitchen

Well, after a good 5 hours in the kitchen, the Tart is finally done. It was easy in only that it was not too hard to find the ingredients, the instructions were simple to follow and the cooking methods were straight forward. The eggs were laborious to say the least. Wisking for 10 minuets can take a lot out of a girl. All in all, I had a great time. I used up most of my old lemons from the tiny tree and I got to taste yummy velvety custard all along the way. This is an image of the finished product. I’ll be bringing it over to a friends house for tasting.

Using All My Lemons

I’ll be using the The French Laundry Cookbook for my inspired dish. Since it’s a little overwhelming tackling such an acclaimed text, I’ve chosen the easiest recipe in the lot, Lemon Sabayon-Pine Nut Tart w/ Honey Mascarpone Cream. Sounds decadent…………Will post my results on Saturday. It may be disastrous. I’m hoping for the best.
